So its not necessary, in fact not encouraged, to manually install the updates unless youre installing the SP1 through Windows Update. The software maker typically releases Service Pack Blocker Tool Kits around two months before service packs are released. One such update,KB976902, is intended for those who have previously installed abeta version of the first service pack (SP1) so that the beta software can be easily uninstalled and to smooth out any problem that may be encountered with upgrade to final RTM version of SP1.
